Library Projects Student Worker, Beatley Library, Simmons College, Boston, MA

Hours: 12-16 hours/week

Pay: $15.00/hour

Start Date: June 13, 2017

The Library Projects Student Worker contributes to the work of Beatley Library’s summer projects, which may include collection maintenance, shifting, sorting, and weeding taking place over the summer of 2017. We are looking to hire at least 5 people for this summer position.This position will start on June 13.

Responsibilities:

  • Shift library collections
  • Locate, retrieve, and sort books and media from shelves
  • Communicate questions, suggestions, atypical situations, and user feedback to supervisors
  • Maintain users’ privacy
  • Stacks and collections projects as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrollment as a student at Simmons College
  • Ability to pushing book carts filled with books, move materials for extended periods of time, and perform other physically challenging tasks
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to understand, remember, and follow complex instructions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous employment experience
  • Experience working or volunteering in libraries
