Librarian II – Cataloger, Brookline, Public Library, Brookline, MA

The Town of Brookline Public Library (main library) is seeking candidates for the position of Librarian/Cataloger. This position will perform administrative, direct service, and professional work in classifying, and cataloging physical and digital materials for the Library, and processing interlibrary loan activity.
- Will work with the network to ensure compliance with network lending agreements and metadata standards
- provides some supervision to volunteers
- handles serials record maintenance and cataloging for reference department staff and branch libraries, and provides assistance and information to library patrons.
Requirements
- Master’s of Library and Information Science degree, plus additional training in library technology
- 2-3 years of experience in library operations
- knowledge of Dewey classification
- descriptive cataloging practices
- authority and serial control
- ability to organize time
- prioritize duties
- accomplish tasks with a high level of accuracy
- ability to work independently
- ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and excellent customer service and computer skills
- Additional language skills are a plus.
Must be available to work some weekends and evenings.
Starting salary $28.76 plus generous benefits.
