Hope College seeks creative, highly collaborative candidates for the position of Humanities Librarian. As a member of the Research & Instruction department, primary duties include: working with colleagues on the design and implementation of information literacy programs; teaching library and information literacy sessions in general education and discipline-specific courses; creating online instruction guides and other tools that assist students in using the library and its resources; meeting with students in one-on-one research appointments and at the research help desk.
The Humanities Librarian will provide expert research support and coordinate building library collections for five humanities departments including English, History, Religion, Philosophy and Modern and Classical Languages.
The successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively with classroom faculty, the Digital Liberal Arts Librarian and others on issues of forward thinking pedagogy and learning in the liberal arts.
The successful candidate will enjoy working as a part of a team to contribute to department and library-wide initiatives, such as the digital liberal arts, digital scholarship, open access, user experience, assessment efforts and aligning library efforts with the new college-wide strategic plan.

Librarians at Hope College are non-tenured faculty with rank. The Humanities Librarian reports to the Head of Research and Instruction.
Qualifications
Required:
- MLS or equivalent degree
- Demonstrated knowledge of trends in teaching information literacy including the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education
- Demonstrated knowledge of emerging trends in humanities research and pedagogy
- Expertise working with a wide variety of library databases and primary sources, particularly in the humanities
- Commitment to collaboration and the ability to work cooperatively across library, organizational and disciplinary boundaries
- Commitment to the mission and values of Hope College
Preferred:
- Additional advanced degree in a field in the humanities
- Proficiency in a foreign language
- Two years experience working in an academic library
