Circulation Supervisor, Attleboro Public Library, Attleboro, MA

Salary: $48,432.50 – $63,121.85

The Attleboro Public Library is seeking a multi-tasking individual with excellent customer service skills, supervisory experience, ability to set procedures and protocols, familiarity with technology and social media to serve as the Circulation Supervisor. This motivated individual needs to be a self-starter, capable of developing and implementing staff training as well as work with a diverse staff, volunteers and community. Be a liaison between Library, MIS office, and SAILS on upgrading technology, meeting library technology needs. This is a 35 hour a week position, including some evening and Saturday hours. Duties include creating and implementing training protocols for circulation department, both in-house and online. Oversee all circulation functions, including developing standards of service and best practices for staff and the public in the development of a Community- Based Library. Possess a familiarity with the latest library technologies, making recommendations for implementation and staff training as applies to customer service within a library setting. Oversees technical website maintenance and upgrades. Represent the Library, at events, meetings and committees on a local, network and/or state level in regards to customer service functions, as requested by the Director. Provide assistance at all public service desks as needed. (Circulation, Children’s Room, and Reference). Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

Position requires a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program and 3 years of experience in a library position, including reference responsibilities. At least one year of supervisory experience in professional library work. Thorough knowledge of professional library principles and practices. Understanding of public library organization and management. Ability to train and supervise staff as well as foster teamwork. Must have website maintenance expertise. Handle the public, volunteers, and staff with diplomacy and tact. Capability to listen and react with empathy towards the public and their library needs. Ability to work independently on specific projects. Display excellent written and oral skills.
