Local History Volunteer, Georgetown Peabody Library, Georgetown, MA
Posted October 11, 2016
WHAT: The Georgetown Peabody Library is looking for a volunteer to help us organize our Local History Room. The volunteer will assess our Local History Room collection to determine what needs to be kept in the collection and what needs to be weeded out. The volunteer will also create documentation that will list what materials are located in the Local History Room.
The Local History collection includes materials about the history of Georgetown, Massachusetts, and the surrounding geographical area, including the Merrimack Valley, and establishes Georgetown within its historical context. The Local History collection includes books, pamphlets, reports, newspapers, yearbooks, manuscripts, documents, microfilms, photographic negatives, and more.
WHEN: Ideally, the volunteer will determine a block of time, one day a week, based on the hours that the library is open. The Library is open Mondays 2-8, Tuesdays 10-8, Wednesdays 2-8, Fridays 10-5, and Saturdays 9-1.
REQUIREMENTS: Flexibility, energy, and ability to work independently. Library experience is desired.
