ABOUT THE JOB
The Software Engineer position is responsible for the design, development, test and deployment of systems that are supportive of Copyright Clearance Center’s core business strategies and objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyzes, designs and codes programs using business analysis and technical skills to satisfy overall objectives and goals of internal and external Copyright Clearance Center customers. Creates, integrates and implements new systems, enhancements and software solutions, including upgrades and patches.
Rotates through production support requirements. Maintains, monitors and updates databases, adding and integrating new publishers.
Serves as an active Agile team member. Contributes to team effort on analysis, development, implementation, testing and documentation of software engineering projects, setting and meeting realistic timelines and deadlines. Evaluates and recommends project parameters, feasibility and release requirements.
Researches, evaluates and recommends new software tools and emerging Internet technologies and standards. Continually expands on personal scope of technical and Copyright Clearance Center business knowledge. Maintains servers and applications throughout development and implementation process.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- 2-3 years of software engineering experience using Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Test Automation
- Experience with Git, Gradle, Jira, Jenkins
- Experience with Agile software development practices and tools
- Proven experience with J2EE, Spring, myBatis, GWT/Vaadin, ActiveMQ and Apache Camel
- Experience with XML and XML-Spy
OPTIONAL, BUT HIGHLY DESIRED
- Experience with Solr/Lucene/ElasticSearch.
- Experience with distributed data grid technologies (Hazelcast or equivalent)
- Experience with DevOps technologies like Chef, Puppet, Docker
- Cloud services experience (AWS, Rackspace, etc.) including auto-scaling and runtime automation
