Assistant Librarian, Thomas College, Waterville, ME

Thomas College invites applications for the position of Assistant Librarian for Reference and Circulation. Reporting to the Director of Library Services, this position is responsible for the circulation, information literacy, and cataloging operations of the Thomas College Library. The Thomas College Library is a patron-centric, service-oriented, technology-intensive library which is part of an integrated library and information technology services division at the College.

The Assistant Librarian for Reference and Circulation should be able to assume responsibility for overseeing various library services including, but not limited to circulation, interlibrary loan, reference, collection development, and cataloging. The candidate should possess (or be able to develop) proficiency with the MINERVA consortium and Sierra library management system.

A bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Sciences or a minimum of three years of library experience is required.  An MLIS/MLS is preferred. Experience in a variety of library service areas, especially circulation, cataloging, interlibrary loan, and reference is preferred, especially as they relate to higher education. 

Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate organizational skills to adequately manage simultaneous projects along with solid technical skills. They must have the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form and possess problem-solving skills to deal with a variety of situations with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
