Job Description
Assist in meeting the institutional repository (OpenBU) collection development and policy fulfillment needs of BU Libraries by selecting, gathering, and verifying BU-produced intellectual output and its corresponding metadata. Assist in maintaining the quality, accuracy, and integrity of the University’s master list of scholarly articles. This position is part of the newly created Digital Services division, and is instrumental in implementing BU’s opt-out open access policy.
Required Skills
B.A./B.S. and four years of related experience; OR Master’s degree and two years of related experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education. Knowledge of research and academic publishing practices. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with faculty, other researchers, staff at all university levels, and students. Ability to develop procedures and workflows. Problem solving and project management skills. Understanding of authors rights. Knowledge of publication formats, particularly capture and migration of digital files. Ability to learn complex web-based software. Familiarity with data sources for scholarly articles. Understanding of data harvesting processes. MUST INCLUDE COVER LETTER IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED.
