Summer Internship Collections Department, Adirondack Museum, Blue Mountain Lake, NY

The Adirondack Museum offers an exciting opportunity for qualified graduate students seeking internship positions during the summer. Student interns will work with a unique collection of historic photographs documenting 150 years of sport, daily life, and work in the Adirondack Park, one of the world’s most important wilderness areas.

The museum is currently accepting applications for internships in the Collections Department. Interns will work closely with professional curators to catalogue portions of the museum’s extensive photograph collection in Past Perfect and gain hands-on work experience.

More than 75,000 images portray virtually every aspect of life within and surrounding the boundaries of the Adirondack Park. The collection includes a wide range of nineteenth and twentieth century photographic technologies dating from the 1840s to the present. Photographers represented in the collection include Seneca Ray Stoddard, Edward Bierstadt, Henry M. Beach, Katherine E. McClellan, Alfred Steiglitz, Eliot Porter and Margaret Bourke-White.

Full-time internships are available during summer 2016 for 8 week periods. A stipend and housing are offered.
