Research Librarian, Arthur Lakes Library of Colorado School of Mines, Golden, CO

The Arthur Lakes Library of Colorado School of Mines invites applications for the position of Instruction and Research Librarian at the rank of Assistant Librarian.

The Library supports the educational and research needs of Mines, primarily in science and engineering, and is a regional resource for technical information. For more information on the Library, visit http://library.mines.edu.

Located in Golden, Colorado, at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and just minutes away from downtown Denver, Mines is a public university with an enrollment of over 5,600 students in undergraduate and graduate degree programs in engineering, applied science and related disciplines. Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of the Library, this position will work collaboratively across the institution to enable students, faculty, staff, and other library users to find information efficiently and effectively through the delivery of high-quality instruction and research assistance. The successful candidate will develop, implement and assess a range of innovative information literacy instruction programs for Mines students, and perform instruction and outreach in collaboration with librarians and instructors. As part of the research team, this position provides reference services including assisting library users, supporting information research, promoting knowledge of scholarly communication, and collaborating on user experience and web content. The position serves on committees for the Library, the university, and other organizations; contributes to the profession; engages in scholarship; and participates in special projects as assigned. Qualifications: Qualified applicants will, at a minimum, have the following: Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited school (or equivalent) by date of employment; and either a bachelor’s degree or experience in a STEM field. Applicants should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and teamwork skills, a public service orientation, familiarity with STEM discovery tools, and professional growth. Arthur Lakes Library Instruction and Research Librarian Employment with Mines is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background investigation.

Preference will be given to applicants with backgrounds which include instruction and outreach; work experience in academic libraries; work experience in reference services; experience in a science or engineering setting; and experience with information technologies.
