General Statement of Duties:

Framingham State University is seeking applicants for a part-time Reference Librarian position for two evenings per week (Tuesday and Thursday) beginning as soon as possible.

Examples of Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Duties include assisting students and faculty with research questions using print, online databases and other electronic sources.
  • Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting public computers and printers.
  • Teach Library Instruction classes upon request.
  • Other related projects will be assigned.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time, non-benefited, contract position. The work schedule is Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 5:00pm to 10:00pm. The hourly rate is $16.00 per hour.

Framingham State University conducts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) checks relative to prior criminal convictions and pending cases, as well as Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) checks relative to prior sexual offenses committed as an adult or juvenile on final candidates prior to an offer of employment for all positions. Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MLS degree required.
  • Must be familiar with electronic databases and have the ability to train students in the use of technology for research.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft office suite and social media required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Reference and Library Instruction experience preferred.
  • Academic Library experience preferred
