Relationship Manager, Crossref, Lynnefield, MA

We are Crossref, a not-for-profit membership organization for scholarly publishing working to make content easy to find, cite, link, and assess. We do it in five ways: rallying the community; tagging metadata; running a shared infrastructure; playing with new technology; and making tools and services to improve research communications.
As we’ve grown we’ve developed relationships with a number of “affiliates” around the world – these customers are not necessarily publishers but use Crossref metadata and APIs to power their own services, or serve as agents for hundreds of small publishers. Crossref now seeks an experienced Relationship Manager to join our Member & Community Outreach team to develop this growing section of our community:
- Analyze our affiliate customers, research their needs, and identify and prioritise new opportunities
- Advocate for these customers in improving Crossref products and services
- Develop plans to increase brand awareness, educating customers about–and promoting uptake of–additional services
- Create and lead introduction strategy for the new DOI Event Tracking service, incl. securing pre-launch commitments
- Ensure continuity of service and product support, and respond to customer needs and activity reports
- Create case studies and general outreach to highlight our Metadata API and other services with SLA models
- Undertake a project to transition affiliates from older services to SLA models
- Fostering long-term relationships through outreach
- Communication (incl. being a clear writer and confident presenter)
- Insight selling
- Business development for data- or tech-based services
- Market analysis
- Contract management
Crossref is an international organization with offices in Lynnfield, MA near Boston and Oxford, England – we seek the best candidate regardless of location. This is a new position in a small, agile, mission-based organization with room to shape the role.
