JOB TITLE: Library Internship (unpaid)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the medical librarian, the intern will perform a variety of tasks related to hospital librarianship:
- Digitizing hospital historical photos.
- Assist with the creation of MARC catalog record and meta data.
- Incorporate archived documents and other material into the timeline.
- Preservation of archival historical photographs and documents.
- Remaining responsibilities will include assisting with other duties if necessary to the operation of the library.
POSITION STATUS: open unpaid internship
WORK TO BE DONE: On Site
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current enrollment in accredited Masters in Library Science or Archives Studies program.
- Completion of basic archives course at graduate level or prior work experience in archival or special collection setting.
- Skills and interests include museum/library/archives collections management, exhibit development/preparation and historic research.
- Knowledge of MARC, LCSH preferred.
- Respect for a diversity of backgrounds and experience.
- Feeling comfortable to deal with psychiatric patient workers and in-hospital residents.
- Willing to go through a background check through the state.
SEMESTER(S): spring 2016
HOURS: Can be determined by student’s availability during regular work hours. Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:00 pm
