Library Director, Billerica Public Library, Billerica, MA

The Town of Billerica seeks an innovative and energetic individual for the position of Library Director. This highly visible position is responsible for the management, planning, direction and administration of all library functions and services as well as facility management of a National Historic Landmark Building located in the Town Center.

Under the supervision of the Town Manager and policy direction from the Board of Library Trustees, the Director will evaluate all library functions and services to effectively meet the diverse cultural, recreational, informational and educational needs of the community.

With the assistance of the library staff, which is comprised of ten (10) full time and seventeen (17) part-time employees, the duties of this position include but are not limited to: developing and instituting short and long term goals and objectives, preparing the library budget, and managing, collecting and analyzing data and statistics to evaluate current progress and make recommended changes, reviewing and implementing new technologies, overseeing collection development, directing facility management, working with the Foundation and Friends groups to create successful fundraising strategies, pursuing, applying, and administering grants. Other duties as required.

Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA accredited program in Library Science, a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible library experience, comprehensive knowledge of public library principles, practices and procedures, outstanding leadership and communication skills, a proven record of establishing and attaining goals utilizing a collaborative style and skilled management.

Salary: $70,990 – $94,360 depending on qualifications as well as a competitive benefit package.
