Availability: one year long position open beginning February 15th
PREFERENCE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO APPLY BY FEBRUARY 5TH.
Hours: 10-20 hours per week
Schedule: Some weekend and evening hours required.
Salary: $15/hour.
Overview: The Teaching, Research, and Learning division in the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center provides reference, research and instructional support primarily to students and faculty in social science and humanities departments of the University of Pennsylvania.
Responsibilities:
The intern will provide reference and instructional services, assist the department in experimenting with instructional innovations, and help develop evidence-based practices. Special projects may include working with professional staff on any of the following:
- Developing new instructional initiatives
- Re-envisioning reference services and spaces
- Expanding departmental use of new technologies and social media
- Evaluating programs and services
Requirements:
Must be a current student in an ALA-accredited graduate program in library/information science. Strong academic background and public service orientation. Ability to learn quickly and independently, take initiative, and handle busy situations. Our extensive training program leads us to ask for a minimum one year commitment.
Preferred Experience: Comfort with emerging information technologies. Teaching or training experience.
