In the U.K. Archive, Study Abroad with University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

The School of Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is excited to announce a study abroad opportunity for students interested in archival studies.
Course Description:
In the U.K. Archive: Explore archives and the information professions in the United Kingdom! The course will be held from July 14-28, 2016.
Join us in a focused learning course centering on practices and theory of archivists in the Scotland, and develop your international competencies and confidence to meet the global professional world. We will consider comparisons and contrasts between the UK and US archival professions, and explore international projects and connections. Learning will occur through pre-travel readings, lectures and class discussion, in-country observation and travel, and other forms of onsite learning. Course will be based at Dalkeith House, near Edinburgh, Scotland, and include site visits to archives and libraries such as the National Records of Scotland and the University of Edinburgh. Open to students from all institutions but preference is given to UWM MLIS Archives Program students. Prerequisite: L&I Sci 650 (Introduction to Modern Archives Administration) or consent of instructor.
The course will be led by Ellen Engseth, Curator, University of Minnesota Libraries.
