$48,239.36 to $69,184.18 Annually

Job Description:
This is a part time position.

Coordinate library’s efforts to scan and incorporate digitized materials in the library’s DSpace repository. Oversee inventory projects. Coordinate collection maintenance and space planning. Assist with maintenance of website, subscriptions, and library’s social media. Staff public desks as needed.

Coordinate library’s efforts to scan and incorporate digitized materials in the library’s DSpace repository
a. Locate and scan materials selected by library staff for scanning
b. Overseeing shipments sent to off-site scanning facilities
c. Coordinate scanning work of interns
d. Locate state documents and other materials on the Internet Archive, Massachusetts state government websites and other
related sites to download and incorporate in the library’s electronic repository
e. Under the direction of the technical services staff, add electronic and digitized documents to the library’s DSpace repository.
f. Assist with interlibrary loan requests

2. Oversee inventory projects
a. With the Head of Reference and Head of Technical Services, establish procedures to inventory the library’s collections.
b. Coordinate shelf-reading of collection to be inventoried
c. Assist with copy cataloging and other related tasks for this project.

3. Coordinate collection maintenance and space planning
a. Shelve main library materials
b. Maintain orderly and neat condition of the stacks
c. Consult librarians on stack maintenance projects and initiate projects to improve collection storage.
d. Review and revise stack guides as needed.

4. Assist with maintenance of website, subscriptions, and library’s social media.
a. Update website as needed
b. Maintain subscription information in Serials Solutions
c. Compile Electronic Repository (DSpace), Website Statistics and Database Statistics
d. Update library’s blog, facebook page and other social media
e. Suggest ideas for increasing the library’s web presence

5. Staff public desks as needed.

6. Participate on Library committees and task forces.

7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. One year of experience working in a library.
2. Experience with scanning and related software, including Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop.
3. Ability to use the library’s card, book, large format and microfilm scanners.
4. Ability to learn how to use hardware and software independently.
5. Demonstrated project management skills.
6. Ability to be detailed-oriented and to take on complex projects with a high degree of independence.
7. Ability to supervise and train interns.
8. Knowledge of social media.
9. Strong writing skills.
9. Awareness of library classification systems used by the library, including the Superintendent of Documents Classification system, Library of Congress and Dewey Decimal.
10. Cataloging coursework and/or experience
11. Knowledge of Integrated Library System software, preferably Evergreen system
12. Ability to maintain poised, business-like demeanor when interacting with the public.
13. Ability to communicate clearly in person, by mail, and by phone (includes good telephone skills).
14. Knowledge of correct English usage, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
15. Ability to maintain good interpersonal relations with staff and Library users.
16. Ability to work productively on a team or task force.
17. Ability to file alphabetically and numerically.
18. Ability to lift 25 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS ACQUIRED ON THE JOB (list knowledges, skills and abilities)

1. Awareness of State’s Email system
2. Awareness of library networks.
3. Knowledge of State Library policies and procedures
4. Knowledge of Innovative Interfaces online public catalog and automated circulation system.
5. Knowledge of electronic repositories, in particular DSpace.
