Systems and Technology Librarian

Salary range: $50-55K/per year

The Becker College Libraries announce an opening for Systems and Technology Librarian. The successful candidate will be forward-thinking with expertise in digital technologies for libraries, learning commons, and student learning.

The new librarian will report to the Director of Libraries. Working with academic and library personnel, he or she will ensure access to new and existing scholarly resources and their integration into student learning. Becker’s libraries are an information ecosystem in transition, seeking to benefit from emerging technologies and digital efficiencies.  The librarian will work with library staff, the Becker community and outside vendors to ensure optimization and continuous improvement of the library’s systems and electronic resources, including, but not limited to, the Millennium integrated library system, electronic databases and e-journals.  The librarian will manage database and networked access through the proxy server, and assume responsibility for management and troubleshooting.  Ability to identify and implement new technologies to improve library services is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic library and learning environment both from day to day and in the long term. Knowledge, skills, abilities, credentials required: 

  • Master of Library Science from an accredited program.
  • Professional library experience, minimum1-3 years.
  • Flexibility with changing information and learning environments both day to day and long range. Work experience in an academic learning/information commons setting a plus.
  • Library instruction and presentation skills – knowledge of and experience with instructional technology and learning management systems highly desirable.
  • Experience with managing integrated library systems – knowledge of Millennium preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with managing online library resources and databases.
  • Experience with search technologies – knowledge of discovery systems highly desirable.
  • Ability to act as a team player and communicate frequently with Director and library staff.
  • Work independently with close attention to detail.
  • Professionally represent library and college in-person and online.
  • Interest in and ability to identify and leverage new technologies and their applications to education.
