Knowledge Management Intern, Pathfinder International, Watertown, MA

Temporary, 6 months, full-time – negotiable

Organization:

Pathfinder International is dedicated to creating access to and improving the quality of contraception, reproductive health, abortion, and community- and facility-based HIV and AIDS care and services in low income countries.

Summary:

The purpose of this position is primarily to assist the Knowledge Management Advisor with day-to-day management of the Technical Knowledge Hub, ensuring that the library, archive, and technical assistance libraries contain up-to-date information. The secondary purposes are to help facilitate in-person and virtual knowledge sharing meetings, to provide reference and research support to Pathfinder staff, and to assist the implementation learning team with knowledge management activities.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate the institutionalization of the knowledge management strategy by:

  • Cataloguing library and archive materials following Pathfinder cataloguing standards.
  • Work with country office staff to capture technical materials in the institutional repository.
  • Coordinating community of practice virtual meetings, journal clubs, and fail fairs.
  • Providing reference and research support to Pathfinder staff, including the compilation of monthly technical area updates.
  • Assist the Knowledge Management Advisor with various knowledge management tasks, including the Technical Staff Yellow Pages project, and the Proposal Content project.
  • Other duties related to knowledge management on as-needed basis and as desired by intern.
  • Position duties may evolve over time.

Requirements:

  • Experience with archives, archival practices, and archival description.
  • Experience providing library reference services.
  • Comfort in facilitating group discussions and public speaking.
  • Excellent attention to detail, research skills, communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and flexible.
  • Experience with SharePoint highly desirable.
  • Exposure to content management systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of public health literature, particularly sexual and reproductive health, beneficial.

Details:

  • Ideally 30-35 hours per week, but flexible
  • Most hours worked in Watertown, MA office during regular business hours, some early mornings (7am start) required
  • Salary is $14 per hour
