The NYU Center for Urban Science and Progress is looking to hire someone with an MLIS with a strong technical background to assist with their new data facility, which supports the empirical study of cities through making available urban data, including administrative data from city agencies, researcher analytical data sets, population data sets from the US Census, new data being downloaded in real time from NYC, and much more. Basically–we’re talking a lot of data. They are looking for someone with strong programming skills (Python, Perl, Ruby primarily) to assist internal software engineers in developing the data facility, and who will be able to help manage large databases using ETL, mySQL, or MSSQL, as well as support and manage an internal metadata management system.
