The Librarian will be responsible for:

  • Guiding users to appropriate sources of information.
  • Circulating materials from our collection for use by patrons
  • Providing copies of materials from our collection from print or electronic sources, requested and delivered in a variety of ways.
  • Obtaining materials needed by BCH patrons but not owned here, through inter-library loan
  • Providing materials requested from our collections by other libraries (Docline)
  • Participating in the acquisition and processing of library materials
  • Providing in depth and ready reference service to patrons
  • Providing technology support to patrons
  • Developing and maintaining the “subject guides” on our library’s website.
  • Answering patron questions about use of library resources
  • Assisting with statistics and reports.
  • Assisting with difficult document delivery citation verification.

To qualify, you must have…

  • Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA accredited school.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues, students, faculty and medical staff in a changing multicultural environment.
  • Must be highly organized and self-motivated to meet deadlines and to plan, prioritize, and focus on critical issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities
  • Proven attention to detail skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficiency with technology use of all kinds
  • Must have a desire to work in a fast paced, highly demanding and dynamic environment
  • Strong formal and informal presentation skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Customer service skills to interact tactfully and knowledgeably with a diverse group of medical professionals and hospital administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word.
