Head of Access and Organization, Wentworth Library, Boston, MA

The Wentworth Library seeks an enthusiastic, collaborative and experienced librarian to serve as the Head Librarian of Access and Organization. This position provides direct supervision and support for the access services and collection organization units, whose work includes circulation desk management, all library lending programs, including the development of a technology lending program, oversight for the collection organization and maintenance, interlibrary loan and course reserves. S/he will help lead the library in developing new programs and services to support a renovated, technology-integrated library and to support expanding academic programs at the Institute. S/he develops and updates relevant policies, training materials and procedural documentation related to access and collection organization, and helps to assess the impact and effectiveness of library services within the institutional context. The position provides oversight for staff and student work at the circulation desk, including library opening and closing operations, as well as other access services services. The position oversees staff engaged in collection organization, including cataloging, acquisitions and materials processing.The position will have the opportunity to serve a liaison to an academic department, providing reference, collection development and instructional support, schedule permitting. This position reports to the associate director of the library.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in an academic library setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing a technology lending program.
  • Staff and student training experience.
  • Experience developing library policies and procedures.
