This is a re-designed position for a technologically-proficient, innovative, and service-oriented librarian to plan, develop, maintain, and enhance library technology services for the Chelmsford Library. This position will also provide some traditional adult services directly to patrons.
Statement of Duties:
- Manage, maintain, troubleshoot, and update library computer and network systems, equipment, and software, for staff and the public, at the main library and the branch
- Work with the director and assistant director to create and implement a long-term technology plan, and research and advise on immediate and near-term technology projects as they arise
- Coordinate with consortium (MVLC) staff, the Town IT Department, and other contract vendors to support all library technology and systems
- Participate in consortium committees and training, attend professional conferences and workshops, and keep abreast of technology trends and developments
- Provide leadership in driving the library’s online and mobile presence, and support and contribute to the Library’s Wordpress website
- Provide instruction to patrons and staff regarding technology and digital media, both as classes and individualized appointments
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to maintain, install, troubleshoot, and upgrade hardware and software
- Strong knowledge of networking (LAN and wireless), including issues of security, privacy, and usability for public access to electronic resources
- Demonstrated knowledge of library technology applications including third-party library content vendors, web applications, and social media platforms
- Expertise using WordPress, graphics editing software, and current web practices
- Ability to work effectively under stress, manage multiple detailed tasks through frequent interruptions, resolve conflicts with diplomacy, maintain harmonious working relationships, adapt to change, and work independently and collaboratively
- MLS degree from an accredited graduate library school
- Experience with integrated library systems, Evergreen preferred
- Technical proficiecny needed with HTML and CSS, MS Office, social media applications, electronic mailing lists, OPACs, and web design and development including WordPress
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to public library service
Salary: $45,251-$65,312 in 11 steps, typically to begin at first step
