Research Services/Scholarly Communications Librarian, Emmanuel d’Alzon Library, Assumption College, Worcester, MA

Assumption College seeks a dynamic and innovative librarian to provide expertise and a collaborative approach to research and instructional services, and to scholarly communication issues on campus. The incumbent will provide research and information literacy teaching services and will also take the lead in educating campus constituencies on scholarly communication issues, promoting open access best practices, and the creation of a digital institutional repository.

The incumbent will help library users clarify their information needs and guide them in locating, evaluating and using print and electronic resources. He or she will design research guides, Blackboard components, tutorials, and other online learning modules for reference and information literacy teaching/learning support. He or she will support the Library’s marketing efforts by managing the Library’s social media accounts and developing printed and digital marketing materials. The incumbent will assist in development of the reference collection and serve as liaison to one or more academic departments. She or he will also maintain the Faculty Publication web pages on the library site.

Candidates must hold an MLS from an ALA-accredited library school. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of professional library experience including reference services. He or she will possess expertise in scholarly communication issues and familiarity with institutional repository software, such as Digital Commons. The successful candidate must possess the ability to work collaboratively while demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness; have a proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a rapidly changing environment; demonstrate excellent presentation and writing skills; and demonstrate a commitment to evaluating and adopting innovative technologies that add value to research and information literacy, and scholarly communication services. A regular evening and occasional Sunday hours will be required.
