Archival Intern (Thursday evenings), Cambridge Community Television, Cambridge, MA

Cambridge Community Television is seeking someone interested in archival work and audio-visual media to assist with the cataloging of the 2,500+ programs in our electronic database. CCTV’s archive is made up of all sorts of content created by CCTV members and Cambridge residents over the past 20+ years, including films, interviews, news stories, community events and more. Getting better data attached to our programs is integral to improving the daily operations of our three Public Access TV channels.

In addition to working with our media archives, interns will occasionally be asked to help facilitate the use of CCTV’s Live studio by CCTV members who host their own weekly 30-minute live shows – training with our live studio and broadcasting equipment will be provided, no prior experience is necessary.

In exchange for a consistent 5-hour shift each week for a 4-month minimum commitment, you will receive a free CCTV Access Membership (including unlimited free production classes and access to equipment and facilities).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Systematically go through the 2,500+ media files in our program library, adding metadata to files that are missing vital information, such as titles descriptions, tags, producer info, etc. Watch videos as necessary to obtain necessary information about each item.
  • Contribute ideas about how best to organize and categorize all of the assets in our library.
  • When working in our Live studio, create a friendly, professional environment and ensure high quality customer service for Live producers and their guests.

Requirements:

  • Must work a consistent 5-hour shift each week for a 4-month minimum commitment. We are currently looking to fill a Thursday evening spot, 4-9pm.
  • Avoid tardiness and last minute missed shifts. Ability to give at least one week of advance notice if you will be late or absent.
  • Must have an interest in archiving or library science, and good attention to detail.
  • Interns must have basic computer literacy. However, no previous experience with broadcasting equipment is required, as training is provided.
  • Must have good customer service skills and patience working with others.
  • Knowledge of Cambridge and the community is helpful, though not required.
