Library Senior Substitute, City of Somerville, Somerville, MA

$18.00 per hour; under 20 hours per week

Working at the Central Library, East Branch Library, West Branch Library or as assigned, assisting patrons with reference inquiries, responding to customer service issues, and emergencies, as needed, providing programming assistance, and other duties as required. May be assigned to work in or more public service desks, including Youth Services, Reference, and Circulation. Hours vary depending on scheduling needs.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, required. Must be available Saturdays; flexible schedule and availability on relatively short-notice, a plus; knowledgeable in the principles and practices of library operations; excellent reference and customer service skills; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; multilingual abilities a plus.
