Lively, user-oriented library seeks an archivist to develop, manage, and sustain a fledgling digital archives program. Reporting to the Director of Library and Archives, the digital archivist will collaborate with the archivist to manage physical collections description and access while expanding the current program of digital records collection, storage, and preservation. This digital archivist will possess skill in digital and physical collections management and access, as well as policy and procedure development and application.
Beloit College Library’s lean and motivated team is organized into functional working groups addressing access, collections, instruction, student employment and outreach/marketing. These peer-led groups attend to routine operations, advance library and archives strategic directions, and contribute to the College’s curricular emphasis – putting the Liberal Arts into practice. The College Archives supports students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the College as well as outside researchers. Collections include institutional records, personal papers, as well as local and regional community history.
Required qualifications: Master’s in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in archives with collection management applications; understanding of digital preservation standards and their application; excellent organizational and problem solving skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; flexibility and enthusiasm to accept, manage, and incorporate change and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment. Desired qualifications: ability to collaborate with technical colleagues; project management; familiarity with ArchivesSpace.
