Reference Librarian, Wellesley Free Library, Wellesley, MA

The Wellesley Free Library seeks a technology savvy, service-oriented full-time (35 hours/week), Reference Librarian. Reporting to the Reference Services Supervisor, the primary responsibility is to provide exemplary customer service to the public through general reference, reader’s advisory services and classroom instruction on the use of a variety of technology tools. Assists patrons in the use of the public access catalog and provides technical assistance with computer applications, portable devices, and downloads of eBooks and other media. 

The successful candidate will have the ability and willingness to handle multiple responsibilities in a changing environment and be conversant with various library, communication, and social media technologies.  Work hours will include weekdays, some evenings, and some weekends.

RequirementsMLS; one to three years of reference experience; excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills; in-depth knowledge of collection development; excellent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, e-mail, Internet searches and software specific to libraries; and basic ability to troubleshoot computer hardware and software.

Hourly rate of pay is $25.04 to $31.69.
