Children’s Franchise Intern, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Boston, MA

The Children’s Franchise imprint is in search of a full-time editorial intern to perform a wide range of both administrative and editorial tasks that include but are not limited to competitor and market research, reports, writing flap and catalog copy, mailing packages, keeping the libraries stocked and organized, and general support. The ideal candidate will be a creative-thinker who is comfortable working in a collaborative setting and contributing fresh ideas for new books and formats. An interest in design is also a plus as this individual will assist with mock-ups for new/promotional material and selecting art for media tie-in books.

Job Requirements
Please note that this is not a summer internship. To be considered for the position, the candidate must be available for a full-time position and be prepared to continue in the fall. Summer only candidates will not be considered.

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrated Interest in editorial and children’s publishing – either based on your major or previous internships/work experience
  • Cooperative, positive attitude.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent verbal and written skills. 
  • General office and Mac/PC computer experience.
Physical Requirements:

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
