Job Summary:
Under general supervision, provides on-site supervision of branch library section/department, a technical services section, or coordination of a system-wide library program. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.
Work Location: One of twenty-six (26) Library branch locations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Directs, coordinates, and schedules the activities of assigned area.
- Directs the overall operation of the branch or section by implementing procedures to meet expected goals.
- Supervises, trains, monitors, counsels, and evaluates the work of assigned staff.
- Cooperates with Collection Development to provide access to library materials.
- Reviews assigned media for books and other library materials for a branch or Central Library collection and purchases selected materials and recommends titles for selections.
- Maintains work records and prepares reports.
- Participates in library committee work.
- Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited university.
- Three (3) years experience as a professional librarian.
- One (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
- No substitution for education allowed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Spanish language proficiency (read, write, and speak).
