Resource Center Manager, National Rural Transit Assistance Program, Woburn, MA

The National Rural Transit Assistance Program (National RTAP) is funded by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and provides training materials and technical assistance to rural and tribal transit providers, as well as state Department of Transportation program managers.

National RTAP is seeking an energetic and dynamic librarian to manage the Resource Center, which includes a shipping center, an online Resource Library, the website, and most incoming communications. The position has supervisory responsibility over the Resource Center Assistant, who completes many of the day-to-day operations of the shipping center. You will be working with a small team to provide services to a national audience, and have the ability to make a meaningful difference in the lives of transit operators and passengers across the country.

This job is located in Woburn, MA.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service as the front line of communication at National RTAP
  • Answer information requests (reference questions) in a timely manner
  • Develop the Resource Library collection of online resources and provide ideas and guidance for ways to improve customer access and organization
  • Oversee the Resource Center Assistant, and maintain an appropriate inventory of training modules and supplies
  • Produce an eNewsletter every other week using Constant Contact email marketing software
  • Research and develop new products as needed, including technical briefs, website articles, and other website content
  • Occasionally present to a national audience during webinars and at conferences
  • Travel to conferences and meetings approximately six times per year, which usually involves exhibiting at tradeshows
  • Help plan Review Board meetings and make conference arrangements, including working with other staff members to plan and execute the National RTAP Conference, which will be held in Denver in October.

Qualifications:

  • Library science degree and 1-3 years of experience working in libraries, archives, or a similar setting
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and solve problems, technological and process-related
  • Excellent customer service skills through all modes of communication
  • Ability to travel throughout the year
  • Familiarity with databases, taxonomies, and collection development
  • Superb writing and editing skills
  • Familiarity with, or ability to learn DotNetNuke web CMS, and some basic HTML skills
  • Ability to be flexible on a daily basis, and manage many time-sensitive tasks
  • Experience with, knowledge of, or interest in rural and tribal transportation

Starting compensation will be in the $45,000 to $50,000 range. Benefits include health and dental insurance, a 401k with a matching component, two weeks of vacation, one week sick, and eight holidays.
