Clark University seeks a service-oriented reference librarian to work part-time (twenty hours per week during academic year) at the Robert H. Goddard Library, Clark’s institutional library.
Reporting to the Head of Public Services, this librarian provides reference service and research support for Clark’s graduate students, undergraduates, and faculty. This person may also have other reference-related duties as needed in order to support reference services in a rapidly changing academic environment. Work hours include weekdays, evenings, and/or weekends. This position is a nine-month appointment.
This librarian must be positive, creative, energetic and proactive in working with Clark’s diverse group of faculty and students in supporting research services in the context of our small, liberal-arts-based research university. Clark’s undergraduate enrollment stands at 2200; its graduate programs enroll more than 1,100 students from around the world and encompass eight Ph.D. and 14 master’s programs.
The successful candidate will have a Graduate degree in library/information science from ALA-accredited institution. Other qualifications include: reference and instructional experience in an academic library; conversant with various library, communication, and social media technology; strong, positive communication and interpersonal skills; ability and willingness to handle multiple responsibilities in a changing environment; and cross-cultural competency and/or willingness to collaborate with speakers of languages other than English and international students and faculty.
