The Osterville Village Library is seeking an energetic and creative professional librarian to fill of the position of Youth Services Librarian. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about working with children and teens, is a team player, and has the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities and duties include providing general reference and reader’s advisory services for children and young adults. We are looking for someone creative, friendly and energetic to grow our youth programming and services. The job includes working with kids of all ages, from birth to eighteen, as well as running the Osterville Village Library’s youth programs. The Youth Services Librarian assists patrons in the use of today’s technologies (computers, portable devices, etc.) and is responsible for collection development and management of materials budget for purchase of library materials. The Youth Services librarian will work collaboratively with the Executive Director and other staff in the creation and promotion of library events for all ages.
The position reports to the Executive Director. 40 hours/week with benefits. Schedule will include some evening and weekend hours.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications:
- MLIS from an ALA accredited program
- 1+ years of library experience
- Strong technology skills
- Ability to adapt easily changing technologies
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite & a variety of social media outlets
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with:
- Website Maintenance
- Email Marketing Services (such as Constant Contact)
- Library Management Systems (such as Sierra)
