Discovering Justice is a recognized leader in civic education. We are dedicated to preparing young people to value the justice system, realize the power of their own voices, and embrace civic responsibility by connecting classrooms and courtrooms. Discovering Justice’s unique programs include civics curricula and field trips for elementary and middle school students, interactive mock trial and appellate programs for middle school students, a courtroom-based field trip on the Bill of Rights, and a courthouse tour program.
Discovering Justice is seeking a college student, recent graduate, or graduate student for an unpaid summer internship to begin in mid-June, end in mid-August, and work four days/week.
Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, personable, and organized individual. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to engender enthusiasm for the programs and mission of Discovering Justice are critical. Familiarity with basic statistical analysis, Word, Excel, Facebook, and Twitter is preferred. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and Word Press is a plus. An interest in education and/or the legal system is also preferred.
Responsibilities
Intern duties and responsibilities may include:
- Compiling and interpreting statistical data on program participation and impact
- Assisting with courthouse tours, student field trips, and other programs as needed
- Researching and updating a comprehensive press contact list
- Social media updates and other office duties as needed
