Volunteers, New England Wild Flower Society, Framingham, MA
Posted April 28, 2015
The New England Wild Flower Society is currently seeking volunteers for its library located at Garden in the Woods, 180 Hemenway Road, Framingham.
The current volunteer positions are for library staff, and Head Librarian; our library has a unique collection of over 4,500 botanical and horticultural books located on the lower level of the Education Building at Garden in the Woods.
For library staff volunteers, we are seeking individuals who can catalog new books, manage the circulation of books, send out overdue notices, do shelf-readings, work to put our card catalog online so it may be accessed via our website. Library volunteers may work on their own schedules Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM after training. Library volunteers are asked to work a minimum of four hours per week.
The Head Librarian is responsible for coordinating the work of the other library volunteers and acts as a liaison with the Public Programs staff. Head Librarian should help staff and volunteers to stay up-to-date with the most current library practices, and be willing to coordinate library projects as needed. The Head Librarian should be able to commit to a minimum of four hours per week, with flexibility throughout the year.
We ask that volunteers should have some experience dealing with cataloging books in a library setting and be very comfortable around computers, data entry, email, and data management. We are seeking volunteers who work well with other people, including other volunteers, staff, and library patrons.
If interested, please feel free to contact us at education@newenglandwild.
