Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Audio-Visual Supervisor, the graduate student intern will supervise the daily work of 10 high school interns hired to scan photographic film from the company’s archives, archive images, update the database, catalog assets, and perform related duties as required. The graduate student intern will work with Draper’s AV team for 4 weeks in advance of the high school students’ six-week internship in order to help set protocols and procedures for archiving information in the Cumulus software system.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in library sciences or related field; working knowledge of physical and digital archival procedures/standards; a minimum experience of one year (can be aggregated from previous internships and work experience);  proficiency with computers and working knowledge of image processing software; ability to quickly learn the Cumulus software program; ability to incorporate metadata in Photoshop; excellent written and verbal communication; attention to detail; strong organizational skills; ability to work independently as well as under the guidance  of the AV Supervisor.  ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of internal customers; ability to work well with and supervise high school students (rising juniors and seniors); master’s in library sciences welcome.

Schedule:

This is a temporary position for a period of 11 weeks, June 1-Aug. 21. (End date negotiable.)

(High school students will work for 6 weeks, 6 hours/day, July 6-Aug. 14.)
