Instructional Media Center Aide, Greater Lowell Technical High School, Tyngsboro, MA

The following is a brief summary of essential duties; it is not all inclusive:

  1. Control, organize, and maintain circulation of print and non print materials, sort and place materials on shelves or in containers and keep in order, and maintain inventory and supplies.
  2. Operate media technology equipment.
  3. Other clerical and library technical work as required.
  4. Assist students, teachers, and administration with reference questions and research. 
  5. Assist with the creation of cataloging data onto automated card catalog.
  6. Control circulation of media and equipment and retrieve overdue materials.
  7. Maintain daily circulation statistics, and inventory of materials.
  8. Assist students with library skills.
  9. Maintain knowledge of the variety of resources of information and media literacy topics.
  10. Promote the services the Instructional Media Center offer.
  11. Maintain discipline and an atmosphere conducive to study; disciplining students when necessary. 
  12. File and remove catalog cards from the shelf list.
  13. File pamphlets, catalogs, and other library materials.
  14. Verify orders for new materials.
  15. Prepare book orders, bibliographies, and new acquisitions lists.
  16. Prepare and process new print and non print materials.
  17. Create a positive and friendly atmosphere in IMC
  18. Instruct students in the use of the IMC and computerized card catalog.
  19. Assist Cluster Chairpersons.
  20. Operate a wide variety of current and emerging media technology. 
  21. File catalog cards using ALA catalog rules.
  22. Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by the Director of Media Services/Professional Development/Social Studies.

This is a 10 month position; 37.5 hour per week; Monday through Friday. Salary range listed is effective as of January 1, 2014, and is subject to change. The School District conducts a MA criminal background check and national and state fingerprint based criminal check as part of its hiring process as a condition of employment.

$687-907 per/wk
