A .8 elementary library teacher position is available in the Newton Public Schools.

Knowledge of library administration, Information Literacy instruction and children’s literature are desirable traits that prospective candidates should possess. The ability to use technology as well as integrate technology into the library curriculum is a plus.

Strong communication skills are essential as the library teacher is expected to make outreach to the parent community, develop open lines of communication with the school principal, and provide 1-1 tech support as well as design and lead professional development workshops. The elementary school library is transitioning to a learning commons concept with a focus on developing a “maker space.”
