A unique position is open for someone to capture early American newspapers, books and broadsides, using digital and/or film cameras. We are looking for someone with strong attention to detail, patience, dexterity, some mechanical aptitude, and ability to follow specific operating standards, while meeting production deadlines. Though some tasks are repetitive, care is essential in handling rare materials, setting up and maintaining cameras, and processing digital images. Strong computer skills are also needed, including the use of digital image editing, software, spreadsheets, PC word processing, and file management skills. This position is employed by NewsBank, in Chester, VT, but is located at the American Antiquarian Society in Worcester, requiring someone with effective communication skills who can work well with a variety of people and minimal on-site supervision.
