Fine Arts and Humanities Librarian, University of Kansas Libraries, Lawrence, KS

The University of Kansas Libraries seeks a knowledgeable, creative, and motivated individual for the position of Fine Arts and Humanities Librarian.  The successful candidate will be a member of the Content Development Department which is dedicated to the stewardship of the University of Kansas Libraries’ collections in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences.  Members of the Content Development team work collaboratively to strategize about directions in managing the development and review of the Libraries’ collections to support University initiatives. The incumbent will oversee collections supporting the research and curricular needs of faculty, staff, and students in art, art history, design, architecture, and urban planning as well as other assigned disciplines in the humanities and/or social sciences.  Reporting to the Head of Content Development, the librarian will provide in-depth research consultations and advanced information literacy workshops.

The Fine Arts and Humanities Librarian stewards the collections of the Murphy Art and Architecture Library located in the Spencer Museum of Art at the University of Kansas.  The Library contains more than 170,000 volumes which documents the visual arts worldwide and from all ages.  Special strengths of the collection include art and architecture of the 19th through the 21st centuries, architectural design, American art, East Asian art, Netherlandish art of the 16th and 17th centuries, plus the history and techniques of crafts such as ceramics, textiles, and metalsmithing/jewelry.
