Founded in 1975 by a group of volunteers providing patient rehabilitation services on the grounds of Westborough State Hospital, Advocates is now one of the largest human services organizations in the state. Today, Advocate employs over 1000 staff members and serves 20,000 individuals at over 100 sites across Eastern and Central Massachusetts.

Responsibilities:
The Records Management Intern will be working under the supervision of the Records Manager in a large scale project involving the creation and implementation of a Records Management Program for hardcopy clinical records dating back several decades. Tasks will include preparing outdated records for shredding, checking hardcopy records against an electronic records database, aiding the Records Manager in assessing records according to a retention and destruction policy, and aiding in the physical organization of clinical records while balancing ease of access with security.
Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in a Library Sciences program
- Needs to be able to sit, stand, crouch, balance on ladders, and lift up to fifty pounds.
- Requires familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and facility with database searches
- Must be able to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must have a commitment to Advocates values and mission
Requires ten to fifteen hours a week within the schedule of M, T, Th, F: 8:00am-4:00pm. This is an unpaid internship providing long term pre-professional experience for a library student at any stage of degree completion.
