Information Literacy and Assessment Librarian, Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, NH

Southern New Hampshire University’s (SNHU) Shapiro Library seeks an energetic and talented educator for the faculty ranked position of Information Literacy and Assessment Librarian. Reporting to the Dean of the University Library, this librarian will lead the planning, delivery, and assessment of the Shapiro Library’s information literacy initiatives.

Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Lead the planning, delivery and assessment of the curriculum integrated information literacy program
  • Act as the liaison to the School of Arts and Sciences providing instruction and other support
  • Seek opportunities to integrate information literacy and library instruction into other University College programs
  • Provide face-to-face library instruction and online tutorials that are student centered and emphasize active learning
  • Serve on a team of librarians to lead instructional pedagogy and stay abreast of new developments and technologies within the information literacy and assessment fields
  • Model innovation in this area and collaborate in innovative approaches with the teaching library faculty
  • Provide reference, information, research assistance and services to the entire university community
  • Assist in the development and documentation of library policies and procedures
  • Participate in collection development activities
  • Serve as a backup for other library faculty in their absenceĀ 

The successful applicant must have:

  • A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program
  • At least three years of experience in teaching information literacy and providing reference services in an academic library
  • Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student learning outcomes assessment as it applies to information literacy instruction
  • Strong commitment to teach in an inclusive manner that serves a diverse student body
  • Knowledge of library database searching, the research process and principles of active learning as applied to information literacy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with relevant library applications such as LibGuides, Adobe Captivate, and Camtasia etc.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve common goals
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in an ethically and culturally diverse environment
