Position Title: Intern, History & Current Events

Position Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to assist in maintaining a corporate history library and oversee corporate events to support Renewable Energy Group’s internal and external brand awareness. This position is also responsible for effectively interacting with internal staff and vendors to facilitate smooth flow of daily operations.
Essential Functions:
Key Accountabilities:
Company History Multi-Media Library
- Sync computer files with hard copy history to ensure the retention of history
- Work in close coordination with CEO/President and Corporate Services team to outline a plan for using archived materials to create a living history
- Continue compiling and organizing to represent important events/happenings within the company as they occur by means of interviews, document retrieval, photography, etc.
- Using compiled interviews, documents, etc., outline and execute a plan to create a “book” that will reflect the company’s progress
- Assist in the completion of a historical wall display to represent company history
Event Management
- Coordinate employee anniversary outing and support external tours/meetings in accordance with provided budget outline
- Serve as a leader for the intern class in preparing for the company picnic/outing
- Serve as a positive public ambassador for the firm
Corporate Services
- Be familiar with office procedures, facilities and overall operations
- Meeting room coordination, organization, and preparation for visitors
- Effectively interacting with internal staff and vendors to facilitate smooth flow of daily operations
Other frequent duties:

Job Requirements:
- Be available for daily work and overtime as required
- Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers (oral and written)

- Ability to use office equipment (computer, copy/fax machine, telephone, postage meter, etc)
- Organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines
- Provide suggestions to offer alternative perspectives to situations
- Work independently or with others as a team to complete assigned projects
- Must have/maintain current driver’s license and meet REG insurance guidelines to operate corporate vehicles
- Provide personal contact information on an as needed basis for official business purposes
Job Qualifications:
Education Required: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree – History, Event Management, or related degree
**Senior or Junior status preferred
Experience Required: Experience in broadcast journalism, public relations strongly desired and event management-experience is a plus
**Business environment experience, relevant courses, club participation and internship preferred
Skills Required:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
- Basic math and accounting skills
- Research experience
Special Skills or Knowledge Preferred:
- Understanding of metadata standards
- Understanding of Library and Archive organizational processes

Position requires extended periods of sitting at a desk utilizing the phone and a computer. Some mobility required to move throughout the office and production areas. Frequent activities involve walking, standing and occasional lifting of containers up to 75 pounds.
Working Conditions:
The working conditions are primarily described as normal office conditions; with occasional movement through the production area as needed. Some exposure to grain, chemicals, fertilizers, feed, dust, and other agricultural related products. Personal protective safety equipment is available as needed. This position requires extended and flexible working hours as needed or required by industry or corporate situations.
