Library Director, Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA

Job Summary
Cambridge College has an online-only library. The Library Director is the sole administrator and staff person for all library services and resources for Cambridge and all regional centers and programs. This includes building, design, and support for the library website; training and instruction for faculty, staff, and students in the use of the online library and information literacy skills; instructional design, writing, and production of all instructional and promotional materials; processing of all vendor contracts; providing documentation for all statistical reports, accreditations and licensing reviews; processing copyright permissions; communicating with internal and external technicians; facilitating the Library Strategic Planning Committee; participating in the College Senate Academic Technology Committee; communicating with librarians at affiliated traditional libraries; providing customer service to our faculty, staff, and students; and keeping library services and resources current to the needs of all our degree programs and all of our regional centers.
Essential Duties/ Responsibilities
- Administration of all library services and resources at the main and all regional centers, for all degree programs
- Timely processing and recordkeeping of all contracts, invoices, and renewals for external vendors
- Instructional development, including design, writing, production and ongoing updating of instructional and resource materials in print and online media
- Administrating ongoing access, security, design, technical, and content issues for the library website
- Process copyright requests
- Instruction and promotion of information literacy skills, as required by NEASC
- Active participation in the College Senate Academic Technology Committee and other methods of communication and cooperation with the IT department; faculty with technology needs; and other college offices
- Customer service to students and faculty for routing of technical, research, writing, and other questions to appropriate sources of help
- Provide live or mediated individual or group training for faculty, staff, and students
- Create and distribute promotional materials
- Provide statistics and other data as requested for research and evaluation purposes, including internal and external surveys; licensing; accreditation
- Facilitate the meeting of the Library Strategic Planning Committee once every term
- Communicate, interface, and develop ongoing relationships with directors and library liaisons at all regional centers in order to maintain an active, visible library presence
- Collection development and participation in curriculum development planning as related to library needs
- Stay current with library technology and resources and provide timely information to administration and faculty
- Performs other related duties and/or special projects as assigned

- Familiar with needs and accessibility tools for EFL and disabled students
- Library, reference, bibliographic instruction, and research skills
- Experience with OCLC HostedEZProxy and LibGuides
- Strong and effective instructional development skills for designing, writing, and producing live presentation, print, and online instruction
- Recordkeeping and contract administration skills
- Competency with Microsoft Office, Webex, Jenzabar Learning Management System or similar systems
- Individual, small, and large group presentation and training skills, live and online
- Experienced, self-starting and self-monitoring in managing projects, working independently, and managing multiple priorities and responsibilities
- Creative and self-initiating to develop new methods of instruction and promotion of library services and resources
- Leadership and assertiveness skills
Education & Experience Required
- Masters level degree in library science with strong instructional development and educational technology skills and experience
- Experience using and administrating library websites; distance education; or similar online educational or business research technology
- Experience administrating library database products, including processing of contracts
- Work experience in the administrative, logistic, and policy aspects of an academic organization
Physical Effort Required
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. This job requires the employee to spend lengthy periods of time performing computer assisted work, requiring great tolerance for eyestrain. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk, hear, and effectively communicate with others in person, in writing, on the phone, and in online live meetings. The employee is required to be mobile. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to see others and read documents. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
