General Summary of Responsibilities
The Dewar College of Education and Human Services seeks applicants for a 12-month, tenure track faculty administrative position for the 2016 fiscal year in the Department of Library and Information Studies.
Reporting directly to the Dean, the position is responsible for the administration of and teaching and advising in the ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) Program; engaging in scholarly activities including publications, presentations, and grant writing; teaching fully online in a web-enhanced environment; and providing service to the department, university, and to the professional community.

Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate in a field relevant to the mission of the MLIS Program and a Master of Library and Information Studies (or equivalent), as well as experience in or demonstrated potential for administration, and a record of scholarship and teaching qualifying for an academic appointment at the rank of associate professor or above. Ability to work collaboratively and to infuse technology, performance assessments, diversity, and multicultural perspectives into the department.

- Experience or demonstrated potential in strategic planning and program management
- Familiarity with program assessment based on student learning outcomes
- Vision to guide curriculum toward expanded recognition and inclusion of 21st century LIS technologies
- Ability to create productive partnerships across disciplinary and organizational boundaries
- Experience in the preparation of administrative reports for internal and external accreditation purposes
- Familiarity with distance learning pedagogies and online course delivery systems
- A commitment and ability to recruit and maintain a well-qualified, diverse student body that, in the aggregate, reflects cultural pluralism
- Dynamic leadership abilities with an understanding of, and appreciation for, faculty mentoring
- Excellent communication skills
