Database Maintenance Temporary Staff, MIT Libraries, Cambridge, MA

The Database Maintenance Temporary Staff is a position for 8-10 hours per week reporting to the the Metadata Systems Librarian, within the Information Technology and Discovery Services unit of the MIT Libraries. This position will assist in quality control related to the Libraries’ Barton bibliographic database. S/he will delete item records and other essential catalog maintenance functions in the Barton database, and perform post-cataloging maintenance of records done by the contract catalogers, or other projects as assigned.

Required: Demonstrated aptitude for accurate, detail-oriented work, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred: Experience or course work that provides understanding of metadata and cataloging, knowledge of MARC bibliographic format and familiarity with OCLC cataloging subsystem, and/or familiarity with Aleph.

Duration: Approximately through June 30, 2015 with possibility of extension

Hourly pay rate: $14.00/hour
