Starting Salary: $36,417 – $47,533 / Job Grade 6
Primary Duties
This full-time (40 hour) position in the public library has primary responsibility for maintaining the library’s computer environment. This includes installation, repair, upgrades and troubleshooting of staff and public access computer hardware and software. This person is responsible for basic network configuration and maintenance in conjunction with the City’s IT department and serves as liaison to the City’s IT department. As a member of our professional staff, this person will also stay informed of innovations in the use of technology in library settings and recommend new processes to streamline and/or update our computer environment.
Minimum Entrance Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in CIS, IT, or CS with a minimum of 3 years related work experience. Technical knowledge of PC operating systems, specifically the Microsoft operating system and MS Office suite. Experience troubleshooting hardware such as PCs, printers, scanners and other peripherals. Knowledge of current protocols and standards, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS and WINS. Experience providing application support with third party applications. Possess good written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate in both technical and user-friendly language. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, have the ability to work independently and show attention to detail. The successful candidate will have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in emergency IT situations.
