Michigan Technological University’s J. Robert Van Pelt and John and Ruanne Opie Library welcomes applications for the position of Instruction and Learning Librarian from individuals enthusiastic about delivering instruction and learning services at the highest levels of quality and service. This position provides a variety of opportunities to work with a team of experienced, highly innovative librarians to deliver and assess instructional programming at an institution where information literacy is an official undergraduate learning goal tied to the university’s undergraduate learning outcomes. Emphasis is placed on incorporating active learning approaches into teaching within a newly designed experimental education environment and flexible information literacy instruction rooms, optimized to support collaborative and team-based learning. Additionally, this position provides opportunities to develop and experiment with instructional programming and innovation, as well as to become involved with emerging library information services programs (including student research consultant and faculty outreach programs), collection development strategies, and continuous development of the library’s learning landscape. Professional development is highly encouraged and supported. A representative of the library will be available at the ALA 2015 Midwinter Meeting JobLIST Placement Center to answer questions and discuss this position with potential candidates, if desired.
