Technical Services Assistant, Goodwin Procter LLP, Boston MA

Goodwin Procter LLP is hiring a Technical Services Assistant to assist with obtaining passwords for electronic research services; preparing RLS orientation materials for new and lateral hires;  maintaining records in the integrated library system and records electronic resource login information in the password management system. Also responsible for ordering and processing new materials for the library and attorney desk books; assuring order fulfillment and resolves issues associated with discrepancies in shipping and invoicing. Prepares payment requests for RLS materials and maintains records of serial receipts.

 

Major Responsibilities:

1.                  Coordinates day-to-day access to electronic research services including assistance with authentication, username and password management and technical support.

2.                  Facilitates the evaluation and acquisition of electronic resources; arranges product demonstrations and trials of new resources as needed.

3.                  Prepares RLS orientation materials for new and lateral hires including lawyers, paralegals, court procedures, marketing and other administrative staff.

4.                  Assists Library Systems & Technologies Manager in maintaining subscription status, licensing information and payment records.

5.                  Researches and resolves vendor issues associated with incorrect shipments, lapsed subscriptions and missing items; proactively claims materials not received on time.

6.                  Maintains subscription lists and office copy records by adding appropriate item records to the integrated library system.

7.                  Orders, processes and distributes library and attorney deskbooks; assures proper receipt of items, verifies that invoices correlate with deliveries and prepares requests for payment.

8.      Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:                         

1.            Bachelors degree; bachelors degree can be substituted for relevant experience in a special or academic library.

2.            1-3 years of library technical services experience preferred.

3.            Knowledge of computer systems and computer applications.

4.            Ability to work quickly, prioritize work product and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

5.            Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, across offices, with members of the Library staff and Firm.

6.            Strong organizational skills.

7.            Strong customer service orientation.

8.            Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
