Assistant Children’s Librarian
Wilmington Memorial Library
Duties: The Wilmington Memorial Library is seeking a creative and energetic individual who loves working with children to fill the position of Assistant Children’s Librarian. The vacancy is due to retirement. The successful candidate will have right combination of experience and knowledge required to assist the Children’s Librarian in providing exemplary library services to children and families in the community. Responsibilities include working with the youth services team to develop and implement a variety of programs and services including story time, book discussions, craft programs, STEM programs, summer reading, etc. Other duties include providing reference and reader’s advisory services to children, parents, teachers and caregivers and assisting with children’s collection development.
Schedule is 35 hours per week with one regular evening shift per week and every third Saturday from September through June. Additional evenings and Saturdays may be required to meet programming needs. Complete job description available on Town of Wilmington web site.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of library experience or a combination of relevant education and experience. Essential qualifications include experience in planning and presenting children’s programs, knowledge of children’s literature and strong technology skills. In addition the successful candidate will be a flexible team player with an imagination, patience, and a sense of humor
Salary: $40,613 to $51,394
